In vitro antiviral activity of V-073 against polioviruses.
V-073, an enterovirus capsid inhibitor, was evaluated for its spectrum of antipoliovirus activity. V-073 inhibited all 45 polioviruses tested in a virus-induced cytopathic effect protection assay, with 50% effective concentration (EC50) values ranging from 0.003 to 0.126 microM. Ninety percent of the polioviruses tested were inhibited at EC(50)s of < or = 0.076 microM (MIC90 = 32 ng/ml). V-073 ...
متن کاملIn vitro Assessment of Antiviral Activity of Cold Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Jet against the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
Introduction: The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a threat to global health and the need for finding new methods of antivirus research, in particular against HIV has increased in recent years. In this study, we investigated the ability of the cold atmospheric pressure plasma jet (CAPPJ) using helium to inhibit the replication of HIV virions. Methods: Single cycle replicable HIV (SCR-HIV) ...
متن کاملAntiviral Activity of Glycyrrhizin against Hepatitis C Virus In Vitro
Glycyrrhizin (GL) has been used in Japan to treat patients with chronic viral hepatitis, as an anti-inflammatory drug to reduce serum alanine aminotransferase levels. GL is also known to exhibit various biological activities, including anti-viral effects, but the anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) effect of GL remains to be clarified. In this study, we demonstrated that GL treatment of HCV-infected H...
متن کاملAntiviral Activity of Itraconazole against Echovirus 30 Infection In Vitro
Objectives Echovirus 30 is a major cause of meningitis in children and adults. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the antifungal drug itraconazole could exhibit antiviral activity against echovirus 30. Methods The cytopathic effect and viral RNA levels were assessed in RD cells as indicators of viral replication. The effects of itraconazole were compared to those of two known an...
متن کاملIn Vitro Antiviral Activity of Sakuranetin against Human Rhinovirus 3
Objectives Rhinoviruses (RVs) cause common cold and are associated with exacerbation of chronic inflammatory respiratory diseases. Until now, no clinically effective antiviral chemotherapeutic agents to treat diseases caused by human rhinoviruses (HRVs) have been reported. We assessed the anti-HRV3 activity of sakuranetin isolated from Sorbus commixta Hedl. in human epithelioid carcinoma cervix...
